FAQs About Inmate Tracker
How do I use a California inmate tracker to find someone?
Start by figuring out which county the arrest happened in. Then go to that county’s sheriff inmate search page, or use the CDCR system if the person is in a state prison. Enter the last name, which is required on every system, along with the first name and date of birth. If no record comes up right away, wait a few hours. New bookings can take 2 to 4 hours to show up in the system.
What information do I need to search for an inmate in California?
You need the person’s last name at minimum. Most county inmate locator tools also ask for the first name, date of birth, and sometimes gender. For example, the Riverside County system includes a gender field in its search form. The more details you have, the faster and more accurate your search will be.
What is the difference between a county jail and a California state prison?
A county jail holds people who are waiting for trial or serving a shorter sentence. For example, the Los Angeles County Sheriff and other county agencies run these types of facilities. A state prison, on the other hand, holds people who received a longer sentence from the courts. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, known as the CDCR, runs the state prison system. You need a different inmate tracker for each one.
Can I see the inmate's charges in the California inmate tracker?
It depends on the county. Some systems show inmate charges right away. Others do not. For example, the Orange County inmate system does not currently show charges to the public. In those cases, bail bonds personnel use a separate method to get that information. Call Jr’s Bail Bonds and we can pull the charge details for you right away.
How long does it take to get someone out of a California county jail?
After you find the person and call us, the process can move quickly. In many cases, we can get someone out within 2 to 6 hours. The exact time depends on the county jail, how busy the facility is, and the time of day. We always work as fast as the jail system allows and keep you updated the whole time.
What should I do right after I find the inmate in the tracker?
First, write down the booking number, the jail or facility name, and the bail amount if it appears. Then call Jr’s Bail Bonds right away and give us that information. We handle the paperwork, contact the facility, and work to get your loved one out as fast as possible. You do not need to figure this out alone.
Can I visit someone who is in a California county jail?
Yes, but each jail sets its own visiting hours and rules. For example, San Bernardino County lets families schedule visits through its inmate locator from Tuesday through Saturday. Some counties let you book online, while others ask you to call the jail directly. Always confirm the visiting schedule with the specific facility before you make the trip.
Does Jr's Bail Bonds serve all California counties?
Yes. Jr’s Bail Bonds helps families across California, including Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County, Riverside County, Orange County, and many more. We also handle cases that involve the CDCR and state-level custody situations. No matter where your loved one is, call us right now and we will do everything we can to help.
